Bridlington South Beach

Address
South Marine Drive, Bridlington, YO15 3LG
Description

Welcome to Bridlington South Beach

This extensive, sandy South beach overlooks Bridlington Bay, offering beautiful views of the harbour in one direction, or the lovely, stretching golden sand of the south bay in the other. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of traditional seaside activities with the facilities of the town and harbour only a short walk away. Bridlington Spa is adjacent and offers fantastic views across the bay.

Bridlington south beach is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards and the spacious beach offers dog-friendly and dog-exclusion zones. The beach does currently have an 'advice against bathing' notice due to some poor bathing water quality results over the past four years. However, there have been a number of excellent and good water quality samples taken within the same timeframe which means the water quality is generally good. Bathing water quality sample results are sensitive to even relatively small sources of pollution. Laboratory analysis of the samples shows that a few different factors may need be tackled to improve the water quality. The data suggests that no single factor is responsible for lowering Bridlington South's water quality. The Bathing Water Partnership are working hard to establish the causes of pollution and are committed to ensuring the water quality improves in the future. You can do your bit to help by following some simple steps such as picking up after your dog, not feeding seagulls and disposing of your litter in bins nearby.

Perfect for children, there is a large paddling pool located next to the Princess Mary Promenade chalets on the South Promenade. Children must be supervised at all times in the paddling pool. There is also a grassy area nearby with picnic benches. Local amenities such as toilets and cafes are within walking distance of the pool. The pool is chemically treated and kept to a high standard of cleanliness and safety throughout the year. There is a strict no dogs policy in the pool.

Bridlington is a superb holiday base, one of the best for families in Yorkshire, and is packed with fun seaside activities for the kids.

The beach directly under the Park and Ride, a short walk down the coast from Bridlington South Beach, is known as Wilsthorpe Beach. Wilsthorpe beach has good bathing water quality.
